story time

Each day I spend lots of time reading to Cam. I have loved to read since before I can even remember and I'm hoping to instill this love into his little heart. So far so good I think. We just cannot get enough books around here or at least I can't get enough of reading them to him. Doesn't matter what the story is about we read them all. But as you saw in my post a few days back Cam has his own system when it comes to reading books. So I've had to get creative to hold his attention. We started off this afternoon with some board books. Cam has this new thing where he likes to smack his hand on the page and drag it down which makes this weird squeaky noise that he finds intriguing. I've learned to adapt to reading over the squeak-no biggie. But he always gets back to his usual shenanigans...

Cam particularly enjoyed this one.

Baby Reptiles rocks!

But then he had enough.

And I was just getting warmed up to read some Seuss. No good. So I decided to give Cam a new perspective on things and see what happened. It was a huge success. Unfortunately, we were so busy having fun that I didn't get any pictures...

We laid on our backs on the floor, right next to each other with our heads propped up on the Boppy. And I held the book out up above us and began to read. The little man loved it!!! He started laughing and grabbing my face in excitement. Then he looked back up at the book and just kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed Hop on Pop. And he crossed his little feet at the ankles, like he was totally loving this. I could seriously have died from the cuteness...

Now we have a new way to snuggle up together and read. Another one of the reasons I love being a mom-discoveries like this.
