Funny
For some reason Cam thinks it's hysterical when I reach up to turn on the camera for his monitor. Who knows why but I can count on a smile from him everytime...

little things
Even though May is almost here it was on the cold and windy side today. So the heat kicked on for a few minutes this morning. Cam looks over at me with an expression of surprise and then proceeds to stare up at the ceiling (in the direction of the vent) for the next 5 minutes trying to figure out where the heck this noise was coming from. Watching him stare into the ceiling trying to figure it out on his own was so cute.
He is so aware of everything going on around him these days and I love to watch the wheels turning in his curios little mind as he's taking it all in. Unfortunately the heating vent will have to remain a mystery until dad is around as mom is way too short to help him out there... It's these random little things that I love...

8
We had a busy, fun-filled weekend visiting family for Cam's 8 month birthday so this post is a few days late. But nevertheless we couldn't let the day go by without mention. So in honor of Cam's 8th month of being the best little man on the planet here are 8 things that I love about him in month 8.
1. The songs he sings to me in the morning when he's oh so happy
2. The way he laughs when I kiss his face or try to pinch his chubby cheeks
3. The way he hugs me tight and chews on my shoulder when I hold him
4. The way he pets those tiny patches of fuzzy fur on the pages of his touch and feel board books
5. The way his little thumb pushes he buttons on his toy remote control
6. All of the rolls on his little thighs
7. The way he says "mmmmmm" when he eats
8. The look in his eyes when he locks them on me and smiles

Love you little man!!!!!!

Style
He came into this world with the most adorable little mullet you have ever laid your eyes on. Sadly though, he lost it as his baby hair fell out. With the new hair that grew in I styled him into a fauxhawk, which was even cooler then the mullet. But he didn't stop there. Check out his newest look.
Oh yeah-now he's growing a tail. Cutest thing I've ever seen. Ever.

don't blink
Or you'll miss it. He is rolling over! Cam realized today how he can get out of that pesky tummy time. He's quick too, I kept missing it with my camera. Here was my best attempt...
So far he is only going from belly to back but my boy has decided this week that he likes to sleep on his side?? And since we put him to bed on his back, I'm guessing the belly to back roll is coming soon. Stay tuned...

three sizes bigger
It is the moment I think every mom on the planet waits for. And it happens when you least expect it. And this morning in mid hug on the way to his room to get dressed he did it. And I know he doesn't understand it yet but he will.
I could not believe my ears and would have spent the rest of the day wondering if I had imagined the whole thing except for the fact that he did it again at breakfast.
He said Mom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His own little version of it. It was more like MUMMM but whatever, close enough for me.
I thought I couldn't possibly love him any more then I do. But I felt my heart stretching out today trying to squeeze some more in...

that phone again
It was rainy today in crazytown so we were stuck inside all day. But there was tons of fun to be had as we spent most of the day reading books and playing toys!
Cam has been digging his toy cell phone that his cousins bought him for Christmas. I have been trying to show him how you hold it up to your ear and talk. He mostly laughs at me and goes back to pushing its buttons. I can only imagine why, I'm pretty sure I look like a crazy person while I'm doing it. So I'm on the floor with him and not paying him full attention, as I was busy building him a block tower... And out of the corner of my eye I see him trying to get the phone up to his ear!!!! He almost had it there but it started to close and whacked him in the head... This of course led to tears, as I think it scared him. I was so excited for him that I clapped and cheered him on anyway and had him smiling again in seconds.
I am amazed every single day at how much and how quickly he is changing and doing new things. Watching him learn is the best.

out foxed
He beat me at me own game today.
We were up in his room playing toys. I had put a few rattles in front of him but just out of his reach to try and coax him into stretching out for them. (This is always a good tactic to get in some unforeseen tummy time.) So he leans over and instead of reaching for the toys as I expected, he grabbed a fistful of the blanket we were sitting on. Hmmmm-this is new... Well, once he had that blanket in hand it was all over. He gave it a quick tug and before I knew what was about to happen he pulled the whole thing right over to himself dragging the toys along with it!
He grabbed the rattle matter of factly and looked up at me with this huge smile on his face. And the look in his eyes told the story. Totally out foxed and he knew it!

mcnugget
He was sitting on my lap, facing me, leaning in really close to me with his hands on my shoulders and his face inches from mine. Just staring at me. Nose to nose, cross-eyed close, and staring at me. I mean really checking me out. He had this sort of quizzical expression on his face. And he had this look in his eyes like he was trying to memorize me or something. All of a sudden I'm thinking to myself "he's looking at me like I'm a chicken mcnugget and he's trying to decide what kind of sauce to dip me in". So I say to him "M'MMMM GOOOOOOOD". And he cracks up. Practically dies belly laughing. It was hilarious.

reading poems
Another day of glorious warm and sunny weather in crazytown. Cam and I spent the afternoon hanging outside and reading some poems from Shel Silverstein, Where the Sidewalk Ends . I absolutly adored this book as a kid. And now I have an excuse to bring it out and love it all over again!
Cam seemed to be really enjoying it today. I had already read him several poems when we got to one of my favorites - Sara Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take The Garbage Out.
He was listening so intently

And then he stopped me

"Can you read me that one again?" (So I'm thinking-Yay! He likes this one too!!!)

And then he paused...

"Ok, Ok that's enough Mom!"

"Seriously Mom, did you just read me a poem about a girl who drowned in garbage?"

Well I guess that one won't make it to his favorite list after all!

heat wave
We have been enjoying some ridiculously summer-like weather here in crazytown over the past few days. Cam and I have been spending lots of time just wandering around outside. We have walked, strolled, sat on the front stoop, lounged on the patio, hit the neighborhood swings, smelled the flower blossoms and just stood out in the sun.
Cam has been enjoying the freedom of his toes out in the sunshine

Wearing nothing but onesies

and getting used to the big boy forward facing stroller

He seems to like the straps already

And I have been loving all of the cuteness...

cutting room floor
sometimes my favorite pictures are the ones that just didn't quite come out right. the ones where I cut off some of his head or his arm or half of his body or they are blurry, out of focus, or fuzzy. but there is still something about the expression on his face or the angle of the shot that I love so much that I can't bring myself to hit the delete button on them. I know they will probably never make it into a frame or photo album but at least now they will have a home. my best mistakes.
check out today's.

playdate

This little guy...
and
this little girl...Had such a fun playdate together today! The cuteness was taken to levels unknown. Can you even imagine?
From the minute we walk in the door until the minute we leave Cam is one happy camper when we visit Miss Devon. She is the sweetest little thing you ever did see. Cam totally digs her. He is mystified as she walks and talks and runs circles all around him. Just watching and watching her. And he never stops smiling.
It was such a fun and relaxing afternoon for everyone. The little ones played toys together and practiced sharing, strolled in the sun while the mommys did a bit of shopping and hung out relaxing in the shade with the mommys for lunch. Not a bit of complaining or whining!! As if it weren't enough that they are the cutest babies in all of the land, they were the best behaved as well!
Playdates rock-we can't wait to go and visit again!
