Good Bye 2010

I always find New Year's Eve to be a day of reflection. 2010 was filled with so many great moments and milestones for Cam, it gave me a lot think about and be grateful for today. As we closed out this year and got ready for the next, Cam and I filled our day with as many hugs and kisses as possible. And as I recalled all of his accomplishments these past twelve months in addition to becoming a record breaking day for hugs and kisses it was also filled with lots of laughter and tears.

In 2010 Cam learned to sleep through the night in his own crib, sit up, crawl, walk, say his first words and he grew quite a fabulous head of curls. He developed his own little interests and favorite things. Cam's passion for reading resulting in my memorization of "Mr. Brown Can Moo" and "I Am A Bunny". His favorite TV shows-Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso-I can sing the theme songs to both shows when required. His love of music- "The Wheels on the Bus" is a big hit. And we can't forget his all time favorite household chore-vacuuming! We also went through the quirky "I must have a tiny pumpkin in my hand at all times" phase... And Cam did some traveling. He visited his Nana and Grandpap and the rest of his family in Pittsburgh, he stuck his toes in the sand for the very first time and saw the Atlantic Ocean during our family vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and he attended his very first wedding in Boston. And he got to experience trick or treating, Thanksgiving turkey dinner and opening presents on Christmas morning-all for the very first time!!

It was one busy year for this little guy and I can't wait to see what 2011 has in store for him!!!

Free!!!!!

Despite the chilly temps, the sun was shining and there was no wind so I decided to take Cam out for a walk. This is only the second time since he has learned how to walk that he has been put down on the ground outside to roam free. Well he LOVES it!!!! He walked all around trying to keep his feet steady in our bumpy front lawn. He teetered and tottered and fell in the dirt every other minute. But Cam just wanted to poke around and pick up sticks and touch shrubs and pinecones and watch squirrels and point at birds and oh boy was he busy...

Presents!

Cam had a blast opening packages he got in the mail today. He is working hard to stay on the "Nice" list for a few more days so Santa will be sure to stop at Tall Trees...

Pointing Fingers

Anyone who has ever shared a meal with a toddler can tell you that it is often a battle of wills and an appropriate occasion to wear a poncho or smock to protect yourself from flying food and debris. We have grown quite accustomed to the mealtime warfare here. Flying applesauce, sippy cups and spoons loaded with sweet potatoes are battled with cries of "no, no, no!", lots of papertowels and floor mopping. However last night our tiny dinner overlord looked up at me after being scolded for throwing his pasta on the floor and exclaimed "No, No!" while pointing and wagging his finger at me.

I spent the rest of the night rethinking my tactical procedures....

Tradition

We weren't planning it, but we were there and Santa sat all alone with no kids in sight. So I figured what the heck-might as well give it a try. And I was met with the same result my own mother received as she placed me on Santas's lap for the very first time many years ago....

Hair styled with banana, toes decorated with broccoli and blueberries mashed into his shirt...

His Father's Son

He said "yay!!!" in the sweetest little voice as he watched me take the vacuum cleaner out if the closet...

Grocery Store Fun

We met up with Nonna and Mandee on our trip to the grocery store today so Cam had lots of fun playing with them while I shopped. Here he is watching quite amused as they sing and dance while playing him the chicken dance song from a Hallmark card...

Picking Out a Christmas Tree

Despite the apprehensive looks in these pictures, Cam had a blast helping us pick out a Christmas tree last weekend. It wasn't the actual picking out of the tree he enjoyed so much as the new found freedom he felt when we put him down on the ground to walk the lot on his own.
He was like a little wind up toy bobbling round and round in circles as fast as his little legs could carry him. And he wanted nothing to do with hand holding or Mommy or Daddy. We were practically running behind him to keep up. All he wanted to do was cruise around outside in the freezing cold and feel the soft gravel under his feet.
We must have been quite a sight because out of the corner of my eye I saw an elderly couple standing back just watching us and knowingly smiling.

This & That

Does this look like the face of a little boy knows just how to get what he wants?
He wanders this house all day pointing and yelling either "diss, diss!!" or "dat, dat, dat!!!"
Seems to do the trick.
