My love of reading is no secret, nor is the fact that I love reading to Cam. I started reading to him on the the very first week he came home from the hospital and never stopped. I have watched as Cam began to enjoy exploring books on his own. Turning the pages, opening and closing the covers and babbling happily to himself. Quietly wondering if I was in fact witnessing the first signs that Cam will share my love for books.

This week Cam began pulling out books and handing them to me with a "please read to me Mama" kind of look in his eyes. And I obliged. I always oblige. No matter where and no matter what, I will stop what I'm doing to read Cam a book when he asks. I am struck powerless to these requests.

Today was a tough day. Sleep interrupted by an hours long 2:30AM awakening, gloomy rain to keep you stuck inside and bored, 3 pesky little teeth pushing their way in, all of this added up to a whiny toddler and an exhausted Mama. But when bedtime finally arrived, instead of just looking for his bottle, Cam grabbed his favorite pop-up book and held it out to me in his chubby little hand. As he settled into my lap we read that 4 page, torn up, much loved book 3 times. And in the brightest few minutes of our day, a bedtime story was born. Can't wait to do it again tomorrow.

Hamburger Helper

Cam has carried this thing with him everywhere for the past two days. Crawling across the floor with it, using it almost like some sort of cane or something, gripping it tightly during diaper changes, banging his highchair tray with it and even trying to hold it at bedtime while drinking his bottle.
