He's Funnier

So we are sitting on the floor alternately playing and sipping a bottle listening to some tunes on my ipod. The Immigrant Song comes on all of a sudden he is bouncing up and down like crazy. The little man likes to groove out to Zeppelin-how funny!

He's Funny

I noticed the other day that Cam has taken to sniffing things. It's weird. I know. He's a weird little dude at times.

Anyway, his choices are always amusing and unexpected. He doesn't sniff food or things that he is about to put in his mouth. You know, the things one would expect to be sniffed. Nope, the things he deems to be sniff-worthy are totally random. His technique is always the same though. Grab the object of choice. Quickly put it up to nose and give it a sniff or two. Pause to make strange uncertain look before giving final sniff. The verdict being unknown, as his reaction is pretty much always the same quizzical look.

I have no idea why or how this started but I must say it makes me laugh every time.

Things Cam Has Sniffed This Week

1. Plastic toy tractor

2. Clean sock

3. Mom's necklace

4. Measuring spoon

5. Rubber play mat

6. Nail file

I haven't been lucky enough yet to get an action shot of this, so here's a random pic to make the post complete.

He Hearts the Cart

Cam's first time in a shopping cart today at Home Depot-big success! He helped me pick out some pretty flowers and enjoyed some time in the sun. And looking as adorable as he did, even the men in the store were smiling and waving to him!

9

Today he waved at me and then pushed his teeny tiny dump truck across his highchair tray while going "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". When we played with his toy cellphone this afternoon, he held the phone to his ear momentarily after I answered the call for him . Looking at me funny, all like "Mom, there's no one there, Mom". He tried pastina for the very first time today, a huge milestone in the life of any Italian baby (although it was the whole wheat kind and not the real deal just yet). And of course, he loved it! He thinks Eskimo kisses are hysterical, belly laughs and grabs my face for more. He figured out how to get the glider rocking back and forth all by himself (which made picturing taking a bit tough). And he seems to think that these monthly badges are for babies, can you tell?

He is getting to be a total big boy...

yikes

He's trying really hard to smile but getting teeth is no fun at all. Especially when you have crazy chompers like these...

You know the kind that get lonely and have to bring a friend...

Yep, he's gone 8 months without any signs of a tooth. And then- BAM! Two at once.

I keep telling him that the ability to get 2 teeth at one time is a secret super power and he is quite the magical sort of little boy. He's been so good about this whole thing that I'm beginning to think that his super power really may be his extremely high un-babylike tolerance for pain.

So for now it's frozen carrots to chew on and lots of games and fun to keep the little man happy and smiling until these two pals decide to make their grand entrance.

what the dilly?

Seriously Mom, a pickle shirt? Are you kidding me? Where did you get this thing?

Oh really? A gift from Alli?

Well in that case, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Do you think Heinz needs a baby model? I'm looking fierce...

see it!

Please ignore the fact that I cut off the top of his head but trying to get a shot of this upcoming toothy was like trying to get a picture of a unicorn...

words

Cam has been saying ma, ma, ma, ma and boom, boom, boom for a bit now. Today he switched it up a little bit. Today he added ka-boom into the mix. Hilarious! Now I'm just waiting for him to use it at and appropriate time. This should not be difficult, as he has become a most rambunctious little boy these days. He likes to punch, swing, throw, kick, pull, pummel and pretty much anything else he can do to cause a ruckus of some sort. In fact, I suffered a fat lip this afternoon as a result of a full speed, un-aimed, flying block from 5 inches away. Here he is all cute and innocent looking with said block before he winged it at my mouth...

Ka-boom totally suits him.

Today

Maybe it was the fact that his shirt had 100% Boy written on it or maybe because that white speck of an impending tooth is getting bigger everyday and I know my favorite gummy little smile will soon disappear. But he was really looking like a big boy to me today-don't you think?

It really makes me sad, well until he gives me a big hug and a sloppy kiss...

things he does

He is just so much fun. Fun from the minute he wakes up until the minute he falls asleep. He gives lots of hugs, holds on tight and lays his little head on my shoulder while I rock him. And there are the face grabbing open mouthed attempts at giving me kisses. And he laughs, finds things funny and laughs. Sometimes a giggle and sometimes a full on belly laugh. He watches everything. Just takes it all in and tries some of it out on his own. He tries to play catch with me. Tries to throw the ball or the toy or the monkey and gets excited when I throw it to him and it lands in his lap and I cheer. He waves. Sometimes he waves at nothing, I'll look back at him in the mirror while I'm driving and he's got his little hand up in the air. He yells and squeals and swats at me when he wants my attention. He bangs on his highchair tray when he's hungry and impatient that I'm not feeding him fast enough. He wiggles and tries to crawl. What he ends up doing is something like the worm, but in reverse. It gets him around though and he knows it. And it is HILARIOUS. He rubs his head in circles when he's tired and trying to fall asleep. He is becoming more and more of a little boy everyday. And everyday more and more fun. I love him so...

love this face

Investigation

Me: Let me see what you have in there
Cam: Smiles at me with lips pursed shut
Me: Come on, what IS that? A spot? A bump? Spit? Milk? Oatmeal? Let me look.
Cam: Shakes head, swats at me
Me:Ooo-ok open wider I think I see a speck of something.
Cam: Opens mouth to laugh with tongue sticking out to obstruct my view
Me: Come on you little stinker, let me see
Cam:Smiles again with tongue out, smacking at me and pulling my hair as I try to stick my face in his mouth
Me: Something is definitely going on in there. PLEASE, pretty please let mommy look
Cam: Flashes quick smile and headbutts me as I lean in for inspection
Me:OK forget it. Are you hungry
Cam: Big smiles, lots of screeching
Me: (empty spoon in hand) ok here it comes (approach his mouth with decoy spoon)
Cam:Opens wide
Me: GOTCHA!

Findings: tiny white spot=tiny tooth on its way!

Monday Mugs

mumbling monday

Grocery shopping was the outing of choice today. Cam was in a particularly good mood today and had a good old time taking the sites, playing with his most favorite bug toy, smiling for all of the ladies and singing to himself as he sometimes likes to do. I was shopping along and enjoying his little tune when it turned to a chant that went something like "boom, boom, boom, boom, boom". Of course I looked at him and asked if this was indeed what he was saying and he proceeded to give me a huge gummy smile, repeat it back to me, and say it at least a hundred more times before the day was through.

This afternoon I thought I would get him in action using his new words. Of course he heard the beep of the camera and decided he was no show pony and would not chant on command... But he coughs and then mumbles it to himself which you can hear somewhere in the middle if you listen closely. My personal favorite part is the 5 second mark...

chewy

Sat down next to little man while snacking on some popcorn this afternoon. He took one look at that bag of popcorn and leaned out his arms to try and get some. And in preparations for the impending treat he started imaginary chewing. Yep, there he sat just making his little mmmmm noises and trying to chew.
I have never seen him show such an interest in anything I've eaten before. He was so cute just trying to reach out and get some, I almost felt guilty for not being able to share. I grabbed the video camera to see if I capture these antics. What I got is not nearly as funny as his initial reaction, but you get the idea because he imaginary ate the popcorn the entire time I ate mine for real.

smiles

He gets this look in his eyes when he smiles at me. It's all like "mom you are the best and the funniest and I love you and I don't ever want to stop looking at you".
Turns out that Cam thinks rapid fire kisses on the forehead, then the nose, then the cheeks, then the arms, then the belly, then the toes, then any other bit of chub that's exposed are pretty funny. Belly laugh worthy even. Also discovered that he thinks the Oscar Meyer Bologna song is hilarious. Who knew. I don't even know why I was singing it to him in the first place. And when I spun one of his teethers around in circles on the table with my finger he practically exploded from all of the giggling.
I know that someday I will look back and wish that it was always so easy to make him this happy...

wonderful wednesday

I spent a good deal of time today watching the cutest little behind that ever squeezed into some blue plaid shorts wiggle and squirm and try to get himself mobile.

If that wasn't enough, we sat spent the afternoon outside enjoying the warm weather. Cam practiced waving to me from the comfort of his exersaucer which was out on the patio for his enjoyment.

And the icing on the cake was the insane amount of nuzzling hugs I got today as he is getting into the habit of tucking his head up under my chin and snuzzling it right in there whilst hugging as much of my body as he can wrap his little arms around in the process. It is even better then it sounds-trust me.

He just gets better and better and better each day...

Love a stroll in the morning!

I am baby...

New Ride

My pint sized sumo in training has finally put his Mama down for the count. Yep, my back finally had enough and said when this morning as I bent over his crib to pick him up...

Sooooo dad stayed home today to help take care of the little man. The pain was softened a bit by the great day we spent hanging out together. We ended the day with a walk around the neighborhood to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather.

Cam has been testing out his new stroller this weekend. He was a bit hesitant at first, since now he faces the world instead of the familiar faces of mom or dad, but this afternoon he was really loving it. Thanks Great Nana!!!

Check him out...
He stretches out...

He gives it the thumbs up...

He rides in style!
