time

As I count the days until my baby turns one, the reality that the first year of Cam's life has past is very slowly seeping into my brain.

The onesie Cam has on in this picture was a gift from one of his very first visitors ever. Hubby's friend Conor who happened to be in town for a wedding and took that opportunity to meet our new little one. We were only home from the hospital for a day or so and I remember looking as I opened his gift and thinking "these clothes are adorable! 18 months is huge though-they won't fit him for a long, long time". Today that long, long time showed up at my door.

The stuffed giraffe {Mr. G}, he was a gift from Cam's friend Gavin. Gavin gave us Mr. G at my baby shower, before Cam came into this world and was still just known as Baby G {because we hadn't chosen his name yet}. I remember holding Mr. G up to Cam after he was born and thinking "he can't play with this toy for a long, long time- it's way too big for him". Today Cameron Evon smiled down at that small stuffed toy and giggled.

Tonight before bedtime, I looked at my little boy surrounded by things that brought back such strong memories from his very first days of life and felt time. I mean really felt it.

No one tells you about that "smiling through your tears an awful lot" part about being a Mama...
